Next stop for filming in Greece was Neilson Active Holiday’s Aeolian Village on the island of Lesvos. Situated next to Lemnos it has 320 kilometres of coastline making it the third largest island in Greece.
The Aeolian Village has a secret charm with a fantastic relaxed and traditional Greek feel about the place. The staff were so welcoming on arrival and throughout the week pulled out all the stops to ensure that everything was perfect for filming. They recommended the best bike rides to capture, their favourite local restaurants, best walks and places to visit for the best views of the bay and the best bars for the most amazing cocktails!
The week proved extremely exciting for filmaking! We had the FS700 on the DJI Ronin hanging out of the back of the van on dusty mountainous tracks to film the mountain bike ride up to the hidden reservoir and monastery (a must do ride if visiting). The ride takes you out of the village and up into the mountains, through olive groves towards a beautiful old traditional working monastery & onto a hill overlooking a huge, tranquil and secret reservoir.
Filming the wakeboard, waterski and mono ski action from the ski boat also proved rather exciting and adrenaline fuelled even from transporting our numerous bags of camera equipment and drone in an old laser across to the pontoon. We filmed from a powerboat to capture a sunset SUP cruise into the local village of Skala Eressos. The village itself is only a 10 minute stroll up the sandy beach from the resort and is definitely worth a visit.
Brightly coloured tavernas hang over the waters edge; their little wooden ladder’s leading up from the shore enticing you in for a local beer or cold cocktail followed by local mezze or a freshly caught fish. The village has an extremely hippy, bohemian vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Bars and restaurants are full of cushions, flickering candles and lanterns. Drapery and driftwood mobiles blow softly in the evening breeze. Parasol Cocktail bar is a must; sip a refreshing cocktail and listen to beachy reggae as the sun sets across the water.
The Beach club offers all activities from tennis to scuba diving, zumba and mountain biking. If you love to be on the water then you will love this resort. Super flat water in the morning’s makes it perfect for wake/ski and mono and stronger winds in the afternoon make windsurfing and sailing slightly more adrenaline fuelled.
After an action packed day enjoy a cold Corona at the beach bar under the grass shade and driftwood roofing. Join in the beach volleyball fun in the evening sunshine or sit back and watch the action as you sip your beer and talk about your day on the water!
The Aeolian village is an amazing beach club. The relaxed, friendly and warming atmosphere makes this holiday perfect for everyone!
